SonTek/YSI Side-Looking Doppler Sonar
Sold to U.S. Ocean Agency
San
Diego, California, October, 2002 - SonTek/YSI's
Chris Ward reported the sale of a 0.25-MHz, long-range SL-ADP (Side-Looking
Acoustic Doppler Profiler) system to NOAA's National Ocean Service. The
instrument will be used to measure horizontal current profiles in support of the
NOAA's PORTS (Physical Oceanography Real-Time Systems) installation near
Anchorage, Alaska. He said this brings the total number of SL-ADP systems in NOS
to six with several of them in operation in both Alaska and the Delaware Bay.
Ward said, "We have been supplying up-looking current profiling systems to NOAA
for over seven years, and we are happy to see that their PORTS systems are now
taking advantage of our long experience in side-looking systems as well."
"SonTek is a leader in side-looking Doppler current profiling technology,"
Ward exclaimed, with more than 600 SL-ADP and Argonaut-SL systems installed
around the world in harbors, rivers, and on oil platforms. For more information,
