Instruments and Applications for Hydrology

Do you need a good introduction to making flow measurements using
hydroacoustics
techniques? If so, attend SonTek's "Instruments and Applications for Hydrology" training
course. This 2½-day course has been
constantly evolving over the past several years, and has become a favorite for
our customers. To date, literally hundreds of our valued customers have attended
to learn, as well as to share, practical knowledge with other attendees.
The advantage of this seminar is its practical premise of "learn by example”.
Lectures
are straight-forward open-discussions and are lead by veteran SonTek/YSI
hydrologists
and engineering staff with years of experience and who have literally made
thousands of
discharge measurements around the world for the past two-decades. In addition,
attendees will have the opportunity to share their own experiences and trade
measurement
tips and knowledge with others. In the evening, one-on-one time will be provided
in
order to meet individually with SonTek staff at your request. So bring your
data, laptop
computer, ideas, and knowledge and be a part of this highly-valued instructional
event.
This is a comprehensive instructional course and will cover a
wide range of topics related to SonTek/YSI instruments used everyday around the
world for flow, velocity, and level monitoring. Lectures will cover:
- Acoustic Doppler theory
- Basic river hydraulics related to hydro-acoustic
instruments
- Velocity-indexing procedures
- Instrument deployment techniques, programming, and
maintenance procedures
- Software instruction (RiverSurveyor Moving-Boat and
Stationary; ViewArgonaut; SonUtils; and FlowTracker)
- Quality data analysis (techniques for determining good
and bad field data).
In addition, application topics will include discussions on
all aspects of RiverSurveyor Discharge Measurements, FlowTracker Discharge
Measurements, and flow monitoring using the Argonaut SL/SW/XR complete flow
solution.
The training course will be held on October 24th – 26th, 2005
in Henderson, Nevada at the Sunset Station Hotel and Casino. If you’re feeling
really adventurous, also plan on including a few days of hiking and sightseeing
at some of the nations best National Parks (Grand Canyon, Zion Canyon, Red Rocks
Canyon, Valley of Fire) located only a few short hours from the training site.
