SonTek/YSI Announces New RiverSurveyor ADP Features
San Diego, California,
February 11, 2005 – SonTek/YSI has announced the release of
four new and exciting features for the RiverSurveyor ADP system. These new features make the ADP a more powerful tool and allow you
to use the RiverSurveyor in more places than ever before.
In northern
climates, the RiverSurveyor ADP can now be used "year-round" with the ability to make discharge
measurements under ice.
With its existing built-in compass (essential for
measuring discharge with a profiler from a vessel in moving-bed conditions), the
RiverSurveyor can be used from a floating platform
without the need to use complicated DGPS systems.
The new RiverSurveyor ADP system features include:
- Shallow-Water Operation (free firmware v9.1 update) to measure water velocities in
a foot (30 cm) of water.
- Improved Bottom-Tracking Algorithms (free firmware
v9.1 update) for increased accuracy and reliability in all conditions. Plus, superior shallow-water
performance down to a half-foot (15 cm) of water.
- RiverSurveyor Software (free software v4.30 update) has
always been the clear choice as the most advanced and user-friendly
discharge measurement software on the market today. With improved reporting,
export, and integration features, SonTek’s RiverSurveyor system is more
powerful than ever!
- Stationary Measurement Software (v1.01; license
required) provides the tools to make ISO/USGS
"Mid-Section Method" measurements using an ADP - just like our
FlowTracker. So now
there is the flexibility to measure discharge using either moving vessel or
stationary measurement methods without the requirement for GPS. And it works
great on ice-covered rivers with SonTek’s mini-head transducer!

Note that the new
firmware upgrades (Shallow Water Operation and Improved Bottom-Tracking) come
standard with all new RiverSurveyor systems since January 2005.
