International Water Resources Users Forum

January 24-26, 2007
H10 Marina Hotel
Barcelona, Spain
Welcome
SonTek/YSI, in partnership with Qualitas Instruments, is
pleased to announce its International Water Resources Users Forum to be
held in Barcelona, Spain, January 24-26, 2007. This is the third in a series of
highly successful SonTek/YSI events focusing on the use of acoustic Doppler
techniques (1st: 2004 Users Conference, Las Vegas, Nevada; 2nd: 2005 Users
Conference, Orlando, Florida).
We are excited to have our event hosted in the beautiful and
vibrant city of Barcelona, and view this as an opportunity to bring awareness to
the many successful international applications of SonTek Acoustic Doppler
techniques!
The forum will feature a series of guest lectures by more than
a dozen industry leading experts, who will share their working knowledge in the
following areas.
- Measurement procedures for complex flow conditions
(floods, tides, backwater)
- Hydrological data collection and analysis for model
calibrations
- Irrigation monitoring and control applications
- Installation, maintenance, calibration, and operation of
discharge gauging stations
- International (and regional) standards and practices for
acoustic Doppler flow measurements
A two-day technical program (Wednesday-Thursday) will be
broken down into specific presentation tracks that include systems overview,
usage, and best-practice application examples. These tracks will include topics
such as the following.
- Keynote Speaker: Dr. Reginald Herschy
- Wading/Stationary/Underway Discharge Measurements
- Continuous Monitoring
- Enhancements of Irrigation, Drainage, Hydropower, and
Water Supply
- International Research Projects and Novel Solutions
- Special topic: World Focus - Emerging Modernization in
Hydrology - Africa
- and more!
Additionally, interactive panel discussions will challenge
participants to take their experiences and provide recommendations on how
industry leaders such as SonTek/YSI can develop next-generation products to meet
growing water monitoring needs.
Day Three of the forum (Friday) is an optional "field-day"
graciously hosted by the Catalan Water Authority (ACA) that will offer
participants the opportunity to visit pristine Spanish countryside to see
instruments in action, as well as visit a few spots of historical European
significance.
Note that while this forum will be conducted in English, a
Spanish translator will assist as needed.
Registration is now open, and will be accepted until Friday,
January 19, 2007. There are benefits to registering early, and for multiple
