SonRecP (a variation of the Recorder program that is included with SonUtils) lets you quickly download large data files from a PCMCIA slot on your computer - over 100 times faster than Recorder/SonRecW. However, SonRecP is not for everyone — you have to open your instrument to remove/replace the PCMCIA memory card.
Note: Only the Windows Vista/XP/2K version of SonUtils contains the SonRecP program. See Precautions and System Requirements (below) before using the SonRecP program.
Features
- Download PCMCIA memory card record data over 100 times faster than using Recorder/SonRecW.
- Example: A 100-MB file takes ~8 hours to download using Recorder/SonRecW at the default baud rate of 56K; SonRecP takes ~4 minutes!
- Swap-out memory cards in the field without first having to download the data files.
Precautions
System must be opened to remove/replace memory cards! Be aware, when you open a water-tight instrument the possibility exists for:
- Damage to internal components
- Damage to o-rings that seal the unit
- Misaligning components that could lead to increased noise interference
- Allowing dust/water to enter the unit
System Requirements
- Microsoft Windows Vista/XP/2K (preferred) on a laptop or desktop, OR Windows NT on a desktop (requires a reboot when card is loaded into PCMCIA slot). Note: Windows 95/98 is not supported.
- Users may need Administrator privileges on their computer to run this program.
- Computer must have a PCMCIA card slot
- Only memory cards supplied by or approved by SonTek can be used
- 2 MB available disk space for program
- Monitor capable of 800x600 resolution or better
- 16-bit color or better recommended
