2003 Water Resources Users Conference - Las Vegas

Our first Water Resources Users Conference was a big hit. We hope that all those who attended enjoyed themselves as much as we did. Our sincere thanks go to all those who attended the conference and especially those who delivered such enlightening presentations.

The three-day conference included two days of presentations, discussions, and training, followed by a site visit to the Colorado River below the historic Hoover Dam.

The topics of the presentations covered all forms of water resources, including hydrological and irrigation applications using a wide range of Doppler systems and other flow and velocity instrumentation. Presentations from countries outside the U.S. (South Africa, Thailand, Sweden, Canada, and Brazil) gave attendees an insight into the issues that face other users around the world. Feedback from the round table discussions on applications and data requirements, as well as the software training sessions, will be used to further improve existing SonTek products and provide the stimulus for new product development.

While the conference provided a chance for Water Resources users to interface directly with SonTek personnel, there was also a key opportunity for them to talk with other users. This gave users the chance to discuss topics with those who not only had experienced and overcome similar obstacles, but who could provide solutions and insight.

The last day's visit to the Hoover Dam included a tour of the dam, a visit to the gauging station, and a demonstration of SonTek's remote-controlled boat. The temperatures were high and some attendees could not resist a quick dip in the Colorado River to cool off!
